Recently our team was on the Enchanted Princess. This post is a review of all of the entertainment on board this ship. If you're interested in checking out this post on our YouTube channel, click here.
First off, we will set the stage by saying we enjoyed all of the entertainment we witnessed on the Enchanted across the board. The actors and actresses were strong and the quality was high, especially for a ship that did not have a Broadway style show on board. For this review we will break it down into four parts: Production Shows, Guest Performers, Live Music, and Cruise Activities. The one entertainment style that our team missed on this cruise was the comedians, so we won't be covering much on them. Let's get started!
Production Shows
There were three different production shows on our seven-day cruise, which was great for variety, but it also did mean there was only one opportunity to see each show during the cruise. Our team had no problem getting seats for each show. We arrived about a half hour early and we were able to find seats with a good view.
The three different production shows were The Spotlight Bar, The Five Skies, and Rock Opera. The Spotlight Bar and The Five Skies both had a storyline to them whereas Rock Opera was more of a showcase performance. All of the shows were fantastic. One thing we noticed was the high quality of the performances as well as the use of stage technology to really create an amazing experience for the passengers. The live music for each of the shows was very well done.
Spotlight Bar takes place in a bar and is akin to Choir of Man (if you're been on many cruises and seen that show.) At the bar there are several patrons and each song tells a snapshot story of the patron's life.
The second production show was Rock Opera. This show did not have a storyline and was more of a showcase. For this show, they had one of the guest performers come in and join the cast, which was awesome. One thing we really appreciated about this show is that they incorporated more recent music, rather than just music from the 60's, 70's and 80's. The costumes and choreography were amazing and the technology was on point.
The third production show was Five Skies, and honestly we feel like the entire cruise would have been worth it just to see this show. This show strongly showed off the technology on the ship as well as had a strong storyline.
The storyline of this show was all about the main character entering a virtual reality where they are trying to save the Princess of the Five Skies. They have to move through the different levels to do this and at each level there is a different challenge to overcome or Boss to beat. We were so impressed by the use of technology in this show as well as the combination of prerecorded with live elements.
In all three of the production shows there was a lot of dancing, which was awesome to see. If you're on the Enchanted Princess, go see the production shows! You won't be disappointed.
Guest Performers
There were two guest performers on board. One was Steve Major and the other was Gen Maldonado. Steve Major was in Rock Opera, he had his own show, and he was in the Variety Show. He is a really great performer and has a great on stage personality as well as tons of talent. He seemed to really enjoy his time on stage and our team enjoyed watching him.
Gen Maldonado was equally amazing. She incorporated a bit of comedy into her show which made it flow nicely. Her voice was also amazing and she did a lot of songs from the 60's and 70's. We loved it!
Overall, we feel like they chose wonderful guest performers for this cruise and overall Princess has done a great job with selecting performers for their ships.
Live Music
There is live music all around the ship that you can find and enjoy at pretty much any hour of the day. Our favorite was the Irish music in the Pub, where the Pirate Queen would come down and interact with the group. They had full participation in their set from the audience, which is something we don't always see on cruise ships. They also had music in the Piazza, music in the Lounge, on the Pool Deck, and more. All of the live music we heard was really well done.
Cruise Activities
Last but not least, let's talk about the cruise activities. This includes all of the game shows, trivia, and other activated put on by the Cruise Director on the ship. The Cruise Director staff was fantastic. We learned that most of the Cruise Director staff was new to the ship and it really shows the dedication of the team that they were able to seamlessly host so many games and activities without any issues. They already seemed like a family on stage and clearly were well connected to each other and the rest of the crew. They all seemed so seasoned and just really great at their jobs. Everything we went to was entertaining and we enjoyed.
That is our review of the on board entertainment of the Enchanted Princess. We highly recommend all of these different options to enjoy yourself on your next cruise. Have you been on this ship? What are your thoughts? We would love to hear from you!
