In 2024 we went on a LOT of cruises and saw a plethora of ports. Today we are going to count down our top ports from 12 to 1. Let’s get started!
Now, to be clear, we are only talking about ports we stopped at while on our cruise in this countdown - NOT embarkation ports.
12: Port Canaveral
While this is a beautiful place to visit, this port is last on our list simply because there isn’t much to do here that is within walking distance. In order to get to most of the restaurants, stopping, or beaches you’ll need to get an Uber or Lyft. Unless your cruise is stopping here for 12 hours or more (which most don’t) it doesn’t give you the time to travel to see the local sites and enjoy the stop.
11: Nassau
Overall we enjoyed our experience in Nassau and there is nothing wrong with this port. There are restaurants, places to see, Atlantis, etc. so there isn’t a lack of things to do. For us, in complete transparency, we have been here several times and we have already done pretty much all there is to do here for cruisers
10: Tortola
There isn’t a lot going on at this port outside of the beaches, which is why it’s number ten on our list. The island itself is beautiful and if you love hanging on the beach, you will really love this port. If you’re looking for adventures and exciting restaurants, this port is a bit of a let down.
9: Roatan, Honduras
There are a lot of fun things to do in Roatan, especially if you enjoy nature. You can go check out different animals, see the rainforest, etc. There are a few restaurants and other things to see and if you have good weather when you stop here, you’ll really enjoy your time
8: Cozumel, Mexico
We enjoyed walking around the different areas when we stopped here last year. The port is nice and there are a handful of things to see here. We would recommend that you do a resort for a day or you book an excursion if you are going to stop here for several hours, because you’ll be bored of the port activities within an hour or two
7: St. Thomas
We had a great time at this port last year. The weather was great, and we went up to do the Paradise Point cable car excursion. The views were amazing. Here you’ll find tons of shopping, restaurants, and activities. From here you can also take a ferry to St. John, which is another amazing island that is close by.
6: Costa Maya
This port will only be around a bit longer as it is becoming Perfect Day Mexico. We really enjoyed our time at the port of Costa Maya. You can walk right off the ship here and immediately find many options for food, pools, beaches, shopping, and more.
5: Puerto Plata
There is a whole new port here and it is fantastic. There is a free lazy river to enjoy, restaurants, shopping and the port area itself is huge now. There are also a ton of excursions and fun things to do here. We really like this port and have a great experience every time we visit here
4: Harvest Caye
While we missed most of the private islands in 2024, we did get to go to Harvest Caye in Belize. We loved this island. It has a wonderful combination of local culture and a relaxing atmosphere. The space itself is beautiful with beaches, pools, restaurants and other fun things to do and enjoy. Definitely one of the more underrated ports when it comes to cruising.
3. San Juan
We loved this port and this has been consistently one of our favorites over the years. We really like getting off the ship in the middle of a city and being able to walk around and try the food, experience the culture, and explore the space. There’s a lot of history here and some really fun excursions. If you love food and culture, you’ll definitely want to visit San Juan on your next cruise
2: Perfect Day at Coco Caye
We just love it here. Even though it rained every time we were here this year, we still had an absolute blast. We did the Hideaway Beach this year, which is beautiful, and we also did Coco Beach Club. This port has consistently been a favorite of ours and we highly recommend it
1: Bermuda
This was our absolute favorite port to visit this year! We spent about 6 days in Bermuda this year and we enjoyed every one of them. Here you’ll find history, shopping, culture, restaurants, and everything you could ever want at a port on a cruise. There are really fun excursions here like Seaglass Beach and more. You can’t go wrong with visiting Bermuda on your next cruise.
